WHAT TO BRING WHEN YOU GO TO
CASINO POINT, AVALON
One FULL air tank. Ask to have it checked before you leave the store. Trust no one. Refills available at site for $7.00 ea. OPTION: Rent tank at Casino Point for 13.00 including first fill. Advantage: no waiting for fills and no lugging tanks all day.
All your regular SCUBA gear. Lay everything out and use the checklist. Pack in reverse order so the items you will need first are on top.
C-Card - unless you are an Open Water student diver and with an Instructor.
First Aid kit
A change of clothes. Example: If I'm going to wear shorts and sandals, I will usually pack a pair of jeans, socks and tennis shoes. It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Up-to-date marine and weather reports at www.ecatalina.com
One small or large tarp to set gear up on. These can be purchased at Harbor Freight or Wal-Mart for about $4.00 to $8.00 each. You may wish to get an extra one to put in the trunk of you car to protect the interior.
Beach chair (optional)
Dive Parka, windbreaker or sweatshirt in case it gets cold.
Quarters for the lockers or showers
There is a gear truck available to transport you gear to Casino Point. The cost is $8.00 per diver round trip. The number for the gear truck is 310 510-9597.
Nitrox fills are not available at Casino Point. They are available in town.
Money for lunch if you plan to eat in town after diving.
Important Notice: Weights or Weight Belts w/ weights must NOT be packed in your gear bag. Weight for integrated BC's should be carried in a separate weight bag and weight belts should be carried separately.
Coin-operated hot showers and larger restrooms located between town and Casino Point.
Small restrooms at the dive site.
Air fill station with equipment rentals and snacks
Tank rentals ($13.00 per tank w/ first fill)
Small coin-operated lockers for your valuables ($.75 every time you open it)
